14-Year-Old Boy Remanded for Killing Neighbor in Fight Over Girlfriend.
A 14-year-old boy named Marvelous Asefon has been remanded by a magistrate’s court in Akure, Ondo State, for allegedly killing his neighbor, Sunday Ogele.
The incident occurred during a scuffle over a girlfriend in Oka Akoko, the headquarters of Akoko South-West Local Government Area.
The defendant was arrested by the state police command in April and was subsequently charged with one count of murder.
According to reports, Marvelous Asefon stabbed Sunday Ogele to death with a pair of scissors, leading to his demise. The prosecution stated that the offense contravenes sections 319 (1) and 316 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Vol. 2, Laws of Ondo State, 2016.
During the court proceedings, the defendant’s plea was not taken. The prosecutor, Matins Olowofeso, requested the court to remand the defendant to a custodial center until the Directorate of Public Prosecutions provides their advice on the case.
The magistrate, Folashade Aduroja, granted the prosecutor’s request and ordered the remand of the defendant. The case has been adjourned until June 11 for further hearing.
