Barring any last-minute changes, it appears FIFA and the organizers of the 2022 Qatar Mundial are mulling the idea of allowing Qatar to kick off against Ecuador on Sunday, November 20, 2022, effectively moving the third game on Monday, 21st November backward, as the only opening day fixture.

Sky News report says that FIFA(Fédération Internationale de Football Association), has been considering proposals to allow Qatar to kick off against Ecuador on Sunday, November 20, 2022, and be the only fixture that day rather than being the third game on Monday.

The possibility of this final fixture switch needs to needs to be ratified by the FIFA Bureau, led by the governing body’s president, and also features the six heads of football’s regional confederations.

Accepting this change would also shift Netherlands Vs. Senegal fixture, which is also in Group A, shifting from a lunchtime kick-off on Monday, 21 November to an evening slot.

England’s game against Iran would remain the second game of the tournament in Group B, being played on the afternoon of 21 November.

Nigeria has approximately 12,000 citizens in the middle-eastern nation of Qatar who will miss the Nigerian Super Eagles when the game kicks off from November 21 to December 18, 2022.

Nigeria’s failed to beat Ghana in March preventing the country from qualifying for Qatar 2022 World Cup.
