2023: Wike’s Group Reveals Their Demand To End Rift With Atiku

This is coming after Governor Wike met with some leaders of the party on Sunday at River State Governor’s lodge in Abuja.

Governor Nyesom Wike’s group has revealed what they want to end the rift between him and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar.

Recall that Governor Wike had met with some leaders of the party on Sunday at River State Governor’s lodge in Abuja in a bid to settle the rift.

However, a source that spoke with Premium Times on the outcome of the meeting, said the meeting was centred around resolving the dispute between Wike and Atiku over the selection of the Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa as his running mate.

The source noted that Governor Wike’s group insisted that the National Chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu, must step down to allow someone from the South to take over the party’s leadership.

The group further stated that this would be their condition to meet with the former vice president and discuss supporting his presidential ambition in 2023.

The group condemned the leadership positions of the main opposition party favouring the Northern zone.

The National Chairman of the party, Ayu is from Benue State, the chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees, Walid Jibrin and the chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, Governor Aminu Tambuwal are all from the North.

The source said, “How can a party that is systematically one-sided sell itself in the South?

“How can we work for a presidential candidate who is already sidelining other leaders who are not in his camp and expect that he would change when he becomes president?

“The candidate has not demonstrated good faith at all. The election is for Atiku to lose. If he wants to win, he knows what to do. The ball is in his court. We were clear at the meeting that he alone can decide if he wants to win or lose the election.”
