
ASUU Calls For Emergency NEC Meeting Over Suspension of Strike.
Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, will on Thursday, October 13, convene an emergency National Executive Council, NEC meeting, to review recent developments, especially the positive response from the federal government to its demands.
As a prelude to the meeting, all zonal branches of the union have been asked to collate the views of members through votes and transmit the outcome during the meeting to be held in Abuja on Thursday.
Appeals Court Orders ASUU To Go Back To Classrooms Immediately
The outcome of Thursday’s meeting is expected to result in the suspension of the strike late Thursday or Friday morning.
ASUU leadership held a meeting with the leadership of the House of Representatives on Monday, October 10 during which the president, Professor Osodoke hinted at calling off the eight-month-old strike in a few days.
Yesterday, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Honorable Femi Gbajabiamila said the president would communicate to Nigerians on Tuesday about the details of the deal arrived at with the striking lecturers.
