During a campaign rally in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, the Labour Party Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, addressed the Nigerian electorate and offered advice on how to handle offers of vote-buying on election day.

He encouraged the people of Kwara State to reject such offers and vote for the Labour Party instead.

In his speech, Obi also shared his vision for Kwara State, which includes turning it into an agricultural hub for industrialization and export, and discussed his plans for building a new and united Nigeria.

He emphasized the importance of addressing the issues of poverty, insecurity, unemployment, misery, and fuel scarcity, which have plagued the country in recent years.

Obi stated: “They will come to you with money to vote for them. Take their money and vote for us. This is new politics. We want to build a new Nigeria where we unite, not divide. A new Nigeria is possible and that is what we, the Labour Party, aim to achieve.”

“In the past 10 years, Nigeria has been producing insecurity and poverty. Today, we have more people living in poverty than in any other country in the world. Unemployment, misery, and fuel scarcity dominate everywhere now, causing real-time suffering.
“A new Nigeria we want to build is a Nigeria where we will start securing Nigeria. Nigerians should be able to move around in Nigeria and feel secure. We want to provide a united Nigeria where there will be law and order and everybody will be proud to say, ‘I am a Nigerian.’ We want to move Nigeria from consumption to production.”

He added that a new Nigeria would prioritize security and law and order, allowing citizens to move freely and feel secure. He also aims to shift the country’s focus from consumption to production and to create a sense of pride in being Nigerian.
