A Louisiana man named Ryan Clark has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for raping a girl under the age of 13, and will also be chemically castrated, according to reports from the New York Post.

Clark has also been barred from contacting the victim, must register as a sex offender, and has waived any parental rights he has to any children.

The 35-year sentence and chemical castration were both ordered by a judge after Clark entered a guilty plea to charges of second-degree rape, molestation of a juvenile under 13, and sexual battery.

Chemical castration is legal in Louisiana for certain crimes, including those committed against children.

The investigation into Clark’s actions began after an individual reported “inappropriate behavior” between Clark and the victim, which reportedly lasted for over a year. As the investigation progressed, authorities also discovered a possible second victim.

This is not the first time Clark has been convicted of a sex-related offense. In 2015, he was found guilty of misdemeanor carnal knowledge of a juvenile and sentenced to 128 days in jail.

Chemical castration is a process in which a person is injected with medroxyprogesterone acetate, which reduces testosterone levels and can lower a person’s sex drive.

In Louisiana, convicted sex offenders receive these injections one week before they are released from prison.
