The state funeral for Queen Elizabeth II scheduled for Monday, September 19, 2022, would be attended by a limited number of world leaders and royalties from across the world.
The two-day funeral ceremony is a very significant diplomatic event hosted by the British monarchy in a very long while.
Many presidents, prime ministers, kings, queens, emirs and other world dignitaries invited to Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral must be speculating over who and who has been asked to attend this most significant diplomatic event held by the United Kingdom in recent years.
Recal that the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, FCDO had released a protocol which requested that Foreign Heads Of Govt are banned from flying their Private Jets into London.
The requirement has raised diplomatic ire, making the British prime minister’s official spokesman insist last Monday that arrangements for leaders would “vary depending on individual circumstances”, stating also that the information provided was “guidance.”
There are media reports that the US President, Biden, who accepted the invitation early on has been granted the exception to go to the abbey in his armored Cadillac stretch known as “The Beast,” which have reportedly left diplomats scrambling for similar waivers for their bosses, or “at least clarity on who will be seated next to them in the coach.”
Reuters, reports that only three(3) African presidents would be attending the funeral, including Ghana’s president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufuo-Addo, who is one of three leaders from the continent that will be attending the state burial of the Queen in Westminster Abbey, London.
Other African leaders expected at the event are the president of South Africa and his counterpart in Gabon.
