Suspected Armed Robber On Wanted List Dies After Gun Battle With Police In Delta

Daily Post reports that a suspected armed robber who has been on the Police wanted list has been killed in Delta State.

He was reported dead after a gun battle with operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad, RRS in Anwai Illah road, Oshimili South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The deceased suspect simply identified as Japhet died at the hospital where he was receiving medical treatments after he sustained gunshot injuries, DAILY POST can report.

The Police also recovered one locally fabricated Beretta pistol with two [2] 9mm live ammunition and one Qlink motorcycle with reg no. WKP 270 QW, abandoned by the other gang members.

It was learnt that the deceased suspect and members of his gang allegedly attacked the operatives who quickly took cover and engaged the marauders in a serious gun battle thereby forcing them to a retreat.

The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe confirmed the report in a statement signed and made available to newsmen.

He said, “In the ensuing gun duel, one of the suspects later identified as Japhet, who has been on the Command’s wanted list for involvement in numerous attacks on Police personnel and killing of innocent persons, sustained gunshot injuries, he was taken to the hospital where he died while receiving treatment.”

According to DSP Edafe, “Manhunt for the fleeing gang members is ongoing.”
