US Man Charged with Second-Degree Murder After Killing Wife at Hospital Over Unpaid Medical Bills.
A US man, Ronnie Wiggs, has been charged with second-degree murder for strangling his wife to death at the Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, Missouri.
The tragic event unfolded on Friday at around 11:30 pm, with the husband citing his inability to pay her medical bills as the motive.
According to reports, the hospital staff overheard Wiggs confessing to the crime, stating, “I did it. I killed her. I choked her.”
The victim, who was receiving treatment for a new dialysis port, was allegedly choked by her husband, who also covered her mouth and nose to prevent her from seeking help.
Upon arrival, the police found the victim unresponsive and without a pulse. Despite being placed on life support, she showed no signs of brain function and was later taken off life support.
Wiggs, who is struggling financially and battling depression, confessed to the crime, revealing that he had attempted to kill his wife twice before during previous hospital visits. He has been arrested for first-degree domestic assault and is currently held on a $250,000 bond.
