2023 IUCEA World Bank Masters Scholarships for Female African Students

The Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA), in partnership with the World Bank, is offering the 2023 IUCEA World Bank Masters Scholarships for Female African Students.

This scholarship opportunity aims to address the shortage of highly skilled labor, particularly in the agriculture sector, by providing financial support to academically deserving female students pursuing postgraduate studies in agriculture and related sciences.

The program is part of the ACE II AF Project, which focuses on building strong regional partnerships and collaborations to enhance the quality of higher education and improve production and services in public and private sectors.

Scholarship Details: The ACE II Masters Scholarships provide the following benefits to successful applicants:

University Tuition Fees: Approximately USD 5,000 per year, directly paid to the Host University based on the official invoice.
Stipend: USD 500 per month for living expenses, including housing, food, utilities, local transportation, medication, and settlement expenses.
Research Support: USD 5,000 to assist with student research, disbursed upon approval of the research proposal.
Allowance: A one-time USD 2,000 allowance for visa, laptop, and books.
Air Ticket: Round-trip economy fare between the beneficiary’s home country and the study destination.
Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible for the 2023 IUCEA World Bank Masters Scholarships, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Female national of one of the ACE II participating countries: Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Burundi.
  • Under the age of thirty-five (35) years.
  • Holder of a Bachelor’s Degree in agriculture and related fields from a reputable university, with at least an Upper Second Class Honours.
  • Admitted to one of the ACEs (Higher Education Centers of Excellence) specialized in agriculture and related fields, outside their own country of current nationality.
  • Demonstrate outstanding academic achievement through academic transcripts and awards, if any.

Application Process: Interested candidates can apply for the scholarship by following these steps:

  • Fill in the application form available at ace2.iucea.org or www.iucea.org.
  • Attach the required documents, including a recent passport-size photograph, summarized CV with contact details of two referees, certified copies of academic certificates and transcripts, passport or national identity card indicating citizenship, copy of admission letter from one of the host universities, and two reference letters.
  • Submit the complete application package via email to ace2rfu@iucea.org, with a copy to exsec@iucea.org.

Important Dates: The application deadline for the 2023 IUCEA World Bank Masters Scholarships for Female African Students is June 15, 2023. Applicants are encouraged to submit their applications before the deadline to be considered for the scholarship.
