Many bus passengers have allegedly been kidnapped along Jibia-Katsina road in Katsina.

According to the story, two buses were attacked by the assailants.

Multiple media reports said the attack occurred on Wednesday, around 5 pm at Kadobe village.

An eye witness account was quoted recounting what transpired;

“They were not more than 20 in number because they came on about six motorcycles. They did not use any roadblock but rather stood on the road with their guns and started shooting in the air.

“That led two of the vehicles to lose control and veered off the road and the gunmen eventually abducted the occupants,” the source said.

In a related development, Katsina has been trending on Twitter over heightened insecurity in the state, and a BBC interview where one Bashir Kurfi detailed the plights of victims of banditry.

Some handles were seen reacting to recent events in Katsina and lamenting about the total collapse of Nigeria’s security apparatus in checking the menace.

Bashir Kurfi, an elder and member of the Security Assurance Program for the communities of Katsina spoke with BBC Hausa, narrated the ordeal of Katsina citizens in the hands of bandits.

According to him, citizens of the state now farm for bandits as they rape their wives and daughters at will.

“You will see a village will be attacked and married women will be kidnapped or they will be gathered in one place and be raped by this bandits,” Mr Kurfi said.

“Now there are even villages that the bandits will call the head of household and ask him to bring his wife or daughter for one week to be with them.”

“The leader of the bandits will come with his boys to the village,  they will eject every body out of the house and rape our children and collect all our belongings…we even farm for them, what is happening is just like the old days slavery,” Bashir lamented.
