Four people were killed and three others were critically injured after two helicopters collided mid-air on Australia’s Gold Coast, a popular tourist destination.

According to police, one of the helicopters was flipped over on the sand, while the other remained largely intact.

Emergency services, including a bright yellow rescue helicopter, arrived on the scene to assist with the rescue efforts. The incident is being investigated by Australia’s transport safety bureau as a “mid-air collision.”

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau is investigating the collision, which happened near a tourist strip known as Main Beach.

According to a BBC news report, the incident occurred as one aircraft was taking off and the other was landing. The scene of the crash was difficult to access, making it challenging for emergency services to respond.
