Anthony Joshua is currently on a journey toward redemption after losing all his belts, including in a rematch against Oleksandr Usyk.

By the end of last year, Joshua was still recovering from his defeat and may not have been in the best shape to take on Tyson Fury right away.

Meanwhile, Fury had just won another fight and was eager to return to the ring as soon as possible. Although the possibility of a fight between Fury and Joshua arose, the latter opted not to fight Fury. However, Fury remains open to fighting anyone in the boxing ring.

In a recent interview with Sport Bible, Fury provided an update on his plans for 2023 but also made disparaging remarks about Anthony Joshua. To provide context, promoter Eddie Hearn had previously announced that Joshua would fight Fury only if he wins his next fight against Jermaine Franklin, scheduled for April 1st in London.

Although Hearn is confident that Joshua would be willing to fight Fury, Fury’s reaction to the prospect was clear. Fury also stated that he would only fight Ngannou if his fight with Usyk falls through, but he would prefer to fight inside a cage.

After dissing Joshua, Fury mentioned that he is willing to fight Ngannou but only with four-ounce gloves on.

In his own words, “I don’t even want to go there anymore. Finished. No interest in any AJ questions. Zero. Man’s dead in my eyes. There’s no business between me and him to be done. Finished. From 2017 to however long it’s been, 2022 – trying to make a fight. So, it’s not happening.

“My offer to Ngannou is on the table. Like I said, if Usyk doesn’t fight, then I’ll be looking to make the Ngannou fight. I’m going to do a two-fight deal in a boxing ring and in the cage. I’ve never asked him to fight in the boxing ring. I always said the cage.

“The deal was cage, four-ounce gloves – let’s get it on. In a boxing ring, it would be a pointless contest. It would be like me fighting someone at the local gym – bodybuilding gym. But in a cage with four-ounce gloves on, anything can happen.”
