Veteran Journalist Abdulhamid Agaka Dies One-month After Wife

Veteran journalist, Abdulhamid Agaka has passed on one month after the demise of his wife.

Mr Agaka died in his sleep on Wednesday night at his residence in Kaduna, reports PRNigeria.

Born on February 26, 1956, Agaka joined New Nigerian in Kaduna in 1974. He joined the Democrat Newspaper as an editor in 1988 but went into media consultancy in 1997.

Agaka was an alumnus of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Lagos and a fellow of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE).

Agaka, who was once the secretary of the Jokolo Committee set up by former President Olusegun Obasanjo in 1999, is survived by four children – Ahmad, Maryam, Halima and Abdulhamid (Jnr).

His siblings include Ismail Ila Agaka, a former managing director Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), and Ilyasu Agaka, a director at the Presidency among others.
