According to Arab News, the Saudi Arabian government has unveiled plans for a massive new structure in the capital city of Riyadh.

The New Murabba project will feature a hollow cube-shaped building, known as Mukaab, that will hold 20 times the volume of the Empire State Building in New York. The building is set to transform downtown Riyadh by offering numerous cultural and entertainment venues, a museum, a technology and design university, and a multipurpose theatre.

The New Murabba project will encompass over 25 million square kilometers of floor area. It will include more than 104,000 residential units, 9,000 hotel rooms, 980,000 square meters of retail space, 1.4 million square meters of office space, 620,000 square meters of leisure assets, and 1.8 million square meters of community facilities.

Additionally, the project will have its own transportation system and will be just a 20-minute drive from the airport. A promotional video of the upcoming city has gone viral on social media. According to Futurism, the project is expected to be completed by 2030.

This announcement comes less than a year after the government revealed plans for a 100-mile skyscraper that will house nine million people, which is already under construction in the futuristic Neom site near the Gulf of Aqaba.
