Eligibility for this opportunity extends to recipients of PhD or comparable doctoral degrees (within two years of the August 1, 2024, start date) and advanced doctoral candidates in the social sciences.
If you’re nearing the completion of your dissertation, you should be able to submit degree conferral documentation by June 30, 2024, for an August 1, 2024, start date.
Please note that individuals who have previously held or completed another Harvard postdoctoral fellowship are not eligible to apply.
The benefits of the Academy Scholars Programme are outstanding. Each year, five or six scholars are selected for two-year in-residence appointments with an annual stipend of $75,000. The fellowship must be completed within a three-year window, with Year 1 starting no later than the immediate fall following the postdoctoral fellowship offer.
Additionally, Academy Scholars may apply for a one-time leave of up to 12 months between Years 1 and 2, allowing for acceptance or continuation of a tenure-track teaching appointment.

Required documents include your curriculum vitae (CV) with a list of publications, a research proposal outlining your intellectual objectives and methodology, a scholarly writing sample, a copy of your PhD program transcript, and three letters of recommendation.
