Are you a Nigerian entrepreneur looking to boost your business knowledge and secure funding for your venture? Look no further!

The Development Bank of Nigeria (DBN) presents the annual DBN Entrepreneurship Training Programme (DBNETP), now in its 5th Cycle.

This flagship initiative aims to equip MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) across all sectors with the necessary skills and competencies to succeed in the Nigerian business landscape.

The DBN Entrepreneurship Training Programme has successfully trained over 2000 MSMEs throughout Nigeria, leveraging digital and physical training methods along with strategic partnerships and the DBN Learning Management System (LMS).

Objectives of the Training Programme:

  • Equip MSMEs with the skills and competencies to develop robust and viable business proposals.
  • Enhance the capacity of MSMEs to access available credit and funding opportunities.
  • Improve MSMEs’ ability to efficiently utilize funds, engage in trade and investments, and gain access to markets.

Who can participate?

The training programme is open to all Nigerian MSMEs from any sector who are eager to acquire the knowledge and tools necessary for business success in Nigeria.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be shortlisted for onsite training, applicants must meet the following minimum eligibility criteria:

• The business owner must be 18 years old or above.

• The business owner must be a Nigerian citizen or legal resident.

• The business must be based in Nigeria.

• The business must be for-profit, regardless of the sector.

• Applicants must be available to commit to the training schedule upon acceptance.

Training Format:

The DBN Entrepreneurship Training Programme follows a blended learning approach, combining virtual and physical training components.

• Virtual Training: Participants will engage in a self-paced comprehensive curriculum consisting of 9 modules covering essential business principles. This virtual training will be delivered through the DBN learning management platform via the BizAid App.

• Onsite Training: Shortlisted businesses will undergo a 5-day intensive practical training program. The curriculum will be tailored based on the specific needs of the selected businesses. A total of 350 businesses will be invited to participate in the onsite training, which will be conducted in Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt.

• Pitching Session: All participating businesses will have the opportunity to pitch their business value proposition. Among the participants, 25 businesses will be selected to receive grant funding of N500,000 each.

Training Programme Process Flow:

  • Register on the DBN BizAid application.
  • Complete a minimum of 4 mandatory courses on the BizAid Learning Management Platform, achieving an average score of 70% on all quizzes.

The mandatory courses are:

  • Accounting & Bookkeeping
  • Sustainability for MSMEs
  • Marketing and Sales Techniques
  • Credit Management/Access to Finance

After completing the courses, eligible businesses will receive an email with a link to apply for the face-to-face training.

Submit the application form and receive a confirmation email within 24 hours.

Shortlisting of applicants will be based on the eligibility criteria.

Selection of participants will be carried out using defined selection criteria from the pool of shortlisted applications.

Successful applicants will be notified via email and phone call.

Training will commence on the specified dates in Abuja, Lagos, and Port Harcourt.

Registration and online training on the DBN Biz Aid: May 6 – Ongoing
Application process for face-to-face training: July 10 – July 17
