In a perplexing turn of events, a 22-year-old software engineer employed by Netflix has gone missing under mysterious circumstances after taking an Uber ride in California.

Yohanes Kidane, a recent graduate of Cornell University, joined the streaming giant as a software engineer just two weeks ago.

Surveillance cameras captured Kidane leaving his apartment and entering an Uber vehicle at 28 North Fourth Street in San Jose, California around 7:15 p.m. PT on August 14.

According to reports from New York Post, his journey ended in uncertainty as his cell phone, wallet, and backpack were discovered near the Golden Gate Bridge Welcome Center in San Francisco.

Yosief Kidane, the missing engineer’s older brother, shared that they were unable to contact Yohanes on the evening of his disappearance.

Upon tracking his phone, they noticed it remained stationary near the Golden Gate Bridge. The discovery of his belongings was reported by someone who had found his phone and wallet placed on a grassy hill between the Welcome Center and a nearby coffee shop. Notably, the wallet contained cash, ID cards, and other personal items, all untouched.

Described as a black man standing 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing 150 pounds, Yohanes Kidane was last seen wearing gray sweatpants, a black hoodie, and black shoes.

His distraught mother, Mehret Hana Beyene, expressed her anguish, pleading for his safe return and highlighting his positive character and promising future.

Efforts to locate Kidane have been tireless, with his brother and community rallying to distribute missing persons posters and reach out to medical centers and shelters. Austin Farmer, Kidane’s former roommate at Cornell, revealed to Fox News that the missing engineer had shared concerns about a suspicious rideshare encounter days before his disappearance.

The case remains under investigation, with friends, family, and colleagues anxiously awaiting any updates on Yohanes Kidane’s whereabouts.
