Nigerian Woman Claims Pregnancy Without Sexual Intercourse in Divorce Proceedings

In a divorce case filed in Kwara State, Nigeria, Taibat Abubakar has accused her husband, Abubakar Salihu, of impregnating her without engaging in sexual intercourse, according to Igbere TV.

Taibat expressed her inability to comprehend how she became pregnant without any penetrative vaginal intercourse with her husband.

During the court proceedings, Taibat revealed that Salihu had proposed marriage to her, but she declined due to her lack of affection for him. However, Salihu persisted and insisted that she had no choice but to accept his proposal.

“He said I should marry him, but I said no because I don’t love him. But he insisted and said whether I liked it or not, I didn’t have a choice over his proposal,” Taibat told the court

Taibat further claimed that Salihu informed her one day that she was pregnant with his child and demanded that she not terminate the pregnancy. Initially surprised by the news, Taibat took it lightly until she missed her period at the end of the month despite not engaging in sexual intercourse with him.

“Though surprised, I didn’t take it seriously until I didn’t see my period at the end of the month without having s*x with him,” she added.

In her plea to the court, Taibat requested the dissolution of the marriage, sought a monthly sum of ₦10,000 for child support, and urged the court to order Salihu to pay for the child’s school fees.

Contradicting Taibat’s account, Salihu denied her allegations and asserted that she initially rejected his advances but later changed her stance. He emphasized that their physical sexual encounters were conscious acts and not products of dreams or the spiritual realm, as claimed by Taibat.

Magistrate Ajibade Lawal presiding over the case instructed the couple to maintain their current situation until the next adjourned date on Tuesday, July 25.

The court proceedings will continue to determine the resolution of the divorce case and address the conflicting testimonies provided by the parties involved.
