Confusion As Two Monarchs Emerge In Ondo Community

He urged the new Olu of Aladodo to join hands with other Olus in Akure Kingdom for the development of Aladodo Community and Akure Kingdom at large.

Serious crisis has taken over the Aladodo community in Akure South Local Government Area following the appointment of the Olu (village head).

The Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, Odundun II, said he had approved the appointment and installation of Chief Adekunle Opeyemi Olumide as the Olu of Aladodo community, but the Iralepo of Isikan, Oba Olugbenga Ojo, said the Deji of Akure lacked powers to appoint any chief in any community in Isikan.

Oba Ojo said he appointed one Ayodeji Fatoki as the Olu of Aladodo.

The Akure monarch, in a statement by his spokesman, Michael Adeyeye, said the appointment of Chief Olumide was in exercise of his power as the consenting and prescribed authority over the appointment of Minor Chiefs, Olus, Baales and Olojas in Akure North and South Local Government.

He urged the new Olu of Aladodo to join hands with other Olus in Akure Kingdom for the development of Aladodo Community and Akure Kingdom at large.

“God will guide the new Olu of Aladodo, Chief Adekunle Opeyemi Olumide, as he steers the affairs of the people of Aladodo Community,” he said.

The Isikan Monarch said Fatoki would soon be installed as the Olu of Aladodo.

According to him, “the Chiefs Law states that once a community is recognized under the Chieftaincy Laws of Ondo State, the Oba, solely recognised, is the prescribed authority over the place.

“Aladodo remains part of my community. I am the prescribed authority over Aladodo and not Deji of Akure. I have the right to install Olu or chiefs.

“I have appointed Ayodeji Fatoki as the Olu of Aladodo. He has come to pledge allegiance. Five days later, he will be coroneted.  Deji does not own Aladodo and he has not right to appoint a Chief in the place.”
