Akpabio reportedly informed his colleagues that funds had been transferred to their accounts by Magaji Tambuwal, the clerk of the national assembly, to facilitate their holiday enjoyment.
However, his revelation drew immediate attention as he realized the session was being broadcast live on television and in front of press cameras.
Recognizing the seriousness of his statement, Akpabio swiftly retracted his words, stating, “I withdraw that statement.” He went on to explain, “In order to allow you to enjoy your holiday, the senate president has sent prayers to your mailboxes to assist you to go on a safe journey and return.”
