Popular Nollywood Actor Mr Ibu Faces Potential Leg Amputation, Seeks Financial Help.
Popular Nollywood actor, John Okafor, widely recognized as Mr Ibu, is currently grappling with health challenges and has reached out to Nigerians for financial assistance to cover his mounting medical expenses.
In a heartfelt plea, Mr Ibu expressed the dire situation he finds himself in.
For the past few weeks, Mr Ibu has been battling health issues and undergoing treatment. Sadly, his condition has not improved, and he now faces the prospect of having his leg amputated unless he receives the necessary medical interventions.
In a video shared on his Instagram page on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, the ailing actor lay in a hospital bed, explaining the severity of his condition. He implored well-wishers for their support and prayers, emphasizing the critical nature of his situation.
“While I am hoping for prayers and assistance, as I speak to you I am still lying down in the hospital. The medical director of this hospital said that in case his new idea does not work, the next idea is to cut off my leg. Just see me, if they cut off my leg where would I go? Pray for me, I don’t want my leg to be cut off, thank you so much, God bless you,” Mr. Ibu conveyed in the video.
Joining him in the video, his wife and daughter called on Nigerians to keep them in their thoughts and extend financial aid as needed. Mr Ibu’s daughter revealed that she has been bearing the financial burden throughout his illness. She also stressed that the family prefers to fly him out of the country for more advanced treatment.
“We are still at the hospital, and they want to transfer him to another hospital because he is not getting better. We want to appeal to Nigerian individuals or organizations to fly Daddy abroad for better treatment. This is not the first time Daddy is down like this,” she explained.
The revered actor and comedian recently marked his 62nd birthday in his hospital room, accompanied by his family on October 17.
In the video shared on his social media, Mr Ibu appeared to be in discomfort while sitting in front of his birthday cake, and his affected leg was noticeably swollen.
Since the announcement of his health challenges, Mr Ibu’s fans and well-wishers have poured out their love, prayers, and support, uniting in the hope of his swift recovery.
