Two brothers, aged two and six, have been hospitalized at Ramat Gan’s Tel HaShomer Hospital after unintentionally ingesting cannabis cookies.

According to the mother, the children consumed the cookies by mistake, resulting in dizziness and falls. The younger child consumed half a cookie, while the older boy ate a whole cookie.

The six-year-old is currently in moderate condition, while the two-year-old’s condition is reported as serious. The incident serves as a reminder of the potential risks associated with edible forms of cannabis, particularly when consumed by children.

Pediatricians emphasize the importance of clear labeling and safe storage of edible cannabis products. These products should be kept out of reach and stored securely, similar to other medications and potentially toxic substances. Properly labeling and storing cannabis edibles can help prevent accidental consumption by children and mitigate potential harm.

The ingestion of cannabis products by children can have adverse effects due to the psychoactive compounds present in cannabis, such as tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). It is crucial for parents and caregivers to exercise caution and ensure that any products containing cannabis or its derivatives are inaccessible to young children.

As the two brothers receive medical treatment, healthcare professionals will monitor their condition closely. Efforts will be made to provide appropriate care and support to aid in their recovery.
