Japanese Prime Minister Removes Son from Aide Position Over Official Residence Party Controversy.
Tokyo, Japan – Prime Minister Fumio Kishida announced on Monday that his son, Shotaro Kishida, will be removed from his role as a secretary due to his involvement in an “inappropriate” party held at the official residence.
The decision follows the publication of a magazine report that exposed the event, featuring photographs of guests engaging in questionable activities, such as mimicking press conferences and lounging on the residence’s red-carpeted stairs.
Addressing reporters, Prime Minister Kishida expressed his dissatisfaction with his son’s behavior, deeming it unfitting for a political secretary.
He stated, “His behavior last year in the public space was inappropriate, and we have decided to replace him.” Shotaro Kishida will officially resign from his position on June 1, reflecting the Prime Minister’s decision.
The controversy surrounding the official residence party arose after the magazine report shed light on Shotaro Kishida’s hosting of the event, which included invitations extended to relatives. The report featured photographs that depicted activities deemed unsuitable for the residence’s public space.
