US City Mayor Discovers 70 Pounds of Cocaine During Fishing Trip.
In an unexpected twist, Mayor Jane Castor of Tampa, Florida, stumbled upon a startling discovery while enjoying a fishing excursion with her family.
During their outing in the Florida Keys, they encountered a large package floating in the water, which turned out to hold a staggering 70 pounds of cocaine.
Mayor Castor, a former seasoned Tampa police officer, and the city’s first female police chief, quickly identified the package as containing cocaine.
The estimated street value of this illicit cargo is around $1.1 million. The package was meticulously concealed, wrapped in layers of plastic, and arranged in the form of bricks. The wrapping even featured a colorful butterfly image in pink and blue, as reported by Chief Border Patrol Agent Walter Slosar, who oversees the Miami Sector.
Mayor Castor and her family managed to retrieve the package from the water, likening its size to that of a microwave oven. Upon closer inspection, it was revealed that the cocaine was compacted into tightly stacked bricks within the packaging. Castor noted the location of their discovery, off the coast of the Middle Keys city of Marathon.
