A former speaker of the Nigeria House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, and Nigeria’s former Secretary to the Government of the Federation(SGF), Babachir Lawal visited the current governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike in his country home in Port Harcourt.
The meeting between the duo and Wike took place behind closed doors. Video footage monitored by Choc News was aired on Channels TV showing the moment the August visitors arrived and were received by Wike in his residence.
According to the report, the meeting lasted for three hours after which the trio took photographs before their departure.
In their remarks as to the reason for the visit, while addressing journalists, the former SGF preferred to speak in parables. Citing nuggets from the holy scripture, he said, “We came to visit our brother. He is our brother and every now and then the bible enjoins you to visit one another. That’s what we have just done.”
However, the former speaker, Dogara hinted at being there for political reasons. He said it is part of a search for building an all-inclusive Nigeria. He said, ” Everyone agrees with us that Governor Wike is an indispensable political leader. And for us, it is a search to build an all-inclusive Nigeria. So we feel that as part of the agenda-setting we should meet with him and that’s the reason why we are here.”

Babachir Lawal and Yakubu Dogara are both members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and political leaders from the Northeast zone of Nigeria. Both leaders attended a Northern Christians conference in Abuja where they unanimously condemned the Muslim-Muslim ticket of their party, APC.
Meanwhile, Governor Wike is a member of the opposition PDP who contested as a presidential aspirant but lost out to Atiku Abubakar. Since then, there seems to be no love lost between Wike and Atiku as Wike accused the PDP presidential flag bearer of lying against him in a recent interview he granted Arise TV.
He also said Atiku did not intervene when some party chieftains he referred to as “attack dogs” were pouring invectives on him.
