Twitter under the leadership of Elon Musk is gearing up to rival LinkedIn by introducing a job listing feature for verified organizations on its microblogging platform.

Although no formal announcement has been made, the feature has already been quietly rolled out for some verified accounts, as reported by TechCrunch.

The job listings will be displayed under the company’s bio on Twitter and will direct potential candidates to the organization’s website to learn more about the positions and apply.

A new official account with the handle @TwitterHiring has been created, indicating the platform’s plans to facilitate job listings. The feature, internally referred to as “Twitter Hiring,” allows verified organizations to showcase up to five job positions on their profiles.

To utilize the feature, companies are required to connect a supported Applicant Tracking System or XML feed, enabling them to add job openings to Twitter quickly and easily.

Elon Musk, the billionaire and current owner of Twitter, hinted at this feature’s development in May when he responded to a user’s suggestion to include dating services by saying, “Interesting idea, maybe jobs too.” This move is seen as part of Musk’s vision for Twitter to evolve into an “everything app,” commonly referred to as “X.”

TechCrunch reported that Twitter made its first acquisition since Musk took ownership of the platform by acquiring a job-matching tech start-up named Laskie in May. It is speculated that this acquisition has played a role in the development and release of the new job listing feature.

Interestingly, this feature is expected to be available at no additional cost for verified organizations.

US-based media company WorkWeek has already begun using the feature and praised Musk’s approach to shipping practical products. In a Twitter post, WorkWeek’s CEO, Adam Ryan, shared their experience with the feature and took a subtle jab at Mark Zuckerberg’s Twitter-rival Threads, emphasizing the value of Twitter’s offerings.

As Twitter continues to expand its services, the job listing feature aims to attract more companies and candidates to the platform, making it a potential competitor to established professional networking platforms like LinkedIn.
