US Woman Charged With Poisoning Boyfriend After He Inherits $30 Million.
In a shocking and tragic turn of events, a 47-year-old woman in the United States, Ina Thea Kenoyer, has been accused of fatally poisoning her boyfriend, 51-year-old Steven Edward Riley Jr.
The motive behind the alleged murder? Financial gain.
The incident occurred shortly after Riley received a substantial $30 million inheritance and expressed his intention to end the relationship.
This chilling case has unfolded in North Dakota, where Kenoyer faces the most severe murder charge, a class AA felony murder. Investigators believe that her primary motive was financial gain, as she aimed to secure a portion of the significant inheritance.
Riley fell critically ill after meeting with his attorney in September to collect the inheritance sum. Following his meeting, he became unresponsive, prompting Kenoyer to call the authorities. Paramedics discovered Riley in distress, and he was subsequently taken to a local medical facility before being transferred to a Bismarck hospital. Tragically, he passed away on September 5.
An autopsy later revealed that Riley had been fatally poisoned, allegedly by antifreeze administered by Kenoyer. Investigators discovered items related to the case within the couple’s residence, including a bottle of suspected antifreeze. Kenoyer had proclaimed her innocence on Facebook before her arrest, asserting that Riley had taken his own life.
Furthermore, Kenoyer claimed to be entitled to a share of the inheritance, estimating its worth at $30 million, as Riley’s common-law wife. However, North Dakota does not legally recognize such relationships, casting doubt on her claim.
Presently, Kenoyer remains in custody at the Ward County Detention Center, representing herself. The investigation into this harrowing case is still ongoing.
