Tragedy As US Teacher Is Shot By a Six-Year-Old Student.

According to a report from the New York Post, a school teacher in the United States was injured after being shot by a six-year-old student.

The incident occurred at Richneck Elementary School in Newport News, where the teacher, Abby Zwerner, 25, was intentionally shot by the child during class on Friday.

Eyewitness Lawanda Rusk stated that Ms. Zwerner pleaded for help before falling unconscious, stating, “I’m shot, I’m shot, call 911”.

She told local news channel WHSV TV that she reached school to pick up her two little grandsons moments before the student shot the teacher and later saw the receptionist tending to Ms. Zwerner, who was critically injured.

“We only thought it was somewhere on her hand maybe. But she passed out on the floor, and we noticed that there was another gunshot wound. I did help put pressure on the wounds,” Ms. Rusk said.

Ms. Rusk also stated that she helped tend to the teacher’s wounds and observed that Ms. Zwerner had been struck through her hand and into her upper chest.

The school has reported that Ms. Zwerner’s condition has improved and she is currently speaking with her family.

The police also reported that the child brought the pistol to school in his backpack, and it is not yet known when the child obtained the weapon.
