A former mortuary worker from Arkansas, Candace Chapman Scott, has been accused of selling 20 boxes of human body parts to a man she met on Facebook.

According to court documents, Ms. Scott stole skulls, bones, and teeth from a medical school and sold them to a man from Pennsylvania for $11,000.

Ms. Scott is in jail and has pleaded not guilty to 12 counts, including mail fraud, wire fraud, and interstate transportation of stolen property.

The financial transactions between Ms. Scott and the man went on for nine months, during which she sold him various body parts, including fetuses, hearts, genitalia, lungs, skin, brains, and other body parts.

Ms. Scott is scheduled for a hearing on Tuesday to decide whether she will be released on bail. While the alleged conduct is described as “shocking and depraved,” prosecutors have not deemed her dangerous, so the judge can only order her to remain in jail if she is deemed a flight risk.
