Nigeria’s DSS Plots To Arrest Whistleblower, Vicky Ogbebor Who Shared Video Of Electoral Materials Allegedly Destroyed By Governor Obaseki.
According to SaharaReporters, the Department of State Services (DSS) in Nigeria is reportedly planning to arrest a woman named Oyenmwen Vicky Ogbebor over a viral video showing alleged electoral malpractice in Edo State.
In the video, which was widely shared on social media, some voters accused Governor Godwin Obaseki and his political thugs of destroying electoral materials in some polling units where the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, was leading in the state.
The video was posted during the presidential election, and it went viral, attracting the attention of various stakeholders, including security agencies.
However, in a subsequent video, Ogbebor was seen crying and begging for forgiveness from Governor Obaseki and his deputy, claiming that she never intended to cast aspersions on them.
Despite her plea, SaharaReporters learned that the DSS is planning to arrest Ogbebor over the video. The report alleges that the DSS is being used by the state government and its collaborators to carry out this plot in secret. The operatives of the DSS have reportedly launched a manhunt for Ogbebor, who is currently on the run.
It is unclear what charges the DSS plans to bring against Ogbebor, but she may face criminal charges for allegedly spreading false information and inciting public disorder.
